31 Texas Schools Named 2022 National Blue Ribbon Schools

U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona today recognized 297 schools as for 2022, including 31 schools in Texas. The recognition is based on a school’s overall academic performance or progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups. Secretary Cardona made the announcement during his Road to Success Back to School bus tour.

TEA Releases 2022 Grades 3-8 STAAR Results

Results show improvements across the board, with significant gains in reading

AUSTIN, Texas – July 1, 2022 - Today, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) released spring 2022 State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR®) results for Grades 3-8. The results include exams in mathematics and reading for grades 3–8, 5th and 8th grade science, and 8th grade social studies. This year’s STAAR results show across-the-board improvements in all grades and subjects from 2021, with significant gains in reading. 

TEA Finalizes Selection of 24 Additional Teachers to Teacher Vacancy Task Force

First Meeting as a Complete Group to Be Held on June 2 

AUSTIN, Texas – May 18, 2022 – Today, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) announced the selection of 24 additional teachers to the Teacher Vacancy Task Force, acting on an expansion recommendation made by the Task Force during its first meeting on March 10.
